Is acne curable? That is a question which is debatable but it is the general agreement of physicians that acne is not curable but it can be controlled. I tend to agree with that conclusion because if there was a cure then doctors would have prescribed it to the millions of acne sufferers exactly the same way they give us medicine to cure a bacteria infection.
Most acne cure work on the premise that since we do not know what causes acne, all we can do is treat the symptoms rather than the source which is the impurities within your body. It also means one would continuously need to take the acne medication until the acne breakout lessens.
Acne treatment consists of reducing sebum production, removing dead skin cells and killing bacteria with topical drugs and sometimes in severe cases oral acne medications. Treatment choice depends upon whether the acne is mild, moderate, or severe. Long-term control is achieved in up to 60% of patients treated with isotretinoin which is a drug that decreases sebum production and dries up acne pimples. The acne can be controlled by proper treatment, with improvement taking two or more months. But Acne tends to reappear when treatment stops, though it spontaneously improves over time .Generally, as we grow older acne lessens and breakouts are few and further between but there are still many cases of people who still suffer way into their 40s.The down side of most of the topical acne treatment, is they are only effective as long as you keep using the acne product.
So for acne treatment to be effective we need to treat acne outwardly and inwardly. A diet of foods that encourage the body to get rid of the toxins within the body would be beneficial in controlling the acne.
